DC Public Banking Center’s Bank Safety Fact Sheets provide a quick overview of the safety and soundness of some of the larger financial institutions that hold the deposits of the District of Columbia government.  In some cases, these same institutions hold a significant share of the city’s private deposits as well.  The Bank Safety Fact Sheets present information about four main topics:

1.  Bailout amounts in 2008-09 and placement on the Financial Stability Board’s November 2012 list of “too-big-to-fail” banks

2. Derivatives holdings

3.  Market share in the U.S. and District of Columbia

4.  District of Columbia government deposit accounts

5.  Relevant criminal charges
